I have watched this Hong Kong film twice already and I am proud to say that this is my all-time favorite foreign film. I am impressed on how the film was presented by Wong Jing, the most prolific director in Hong Kong and by the performance of the protagonist, Chow Yun-Fat who played Ko Chun, a very lucky gambler and was renowned because he never loses and taught to have ability that he can read cards.

When I was a kid I became fascinated by older people around me whenever I see them gambling. There were times when I see several teenagers’ playing cards in their backyard. Sometimes there is money at stakes and sometime there are not.

Gambling for me is leisure, but for some it is a way of life. Betting for something and just letting chance do the talking will always be a part of being human and not only in gambling but for other things too.

Playing will always be a part of every kid. Children will try every type of game that he or she can test his or her capacity. Sometimes there are games that are harmless and there are those that should not be tried at all. Kids will try games that they also see from adults. One type of game that is learned on the early years of every child is gambling.

My first poker experience is with my friends over a couple bottles of beer. We are already playing other game when one of us ask if we now how to play poker. We learned Texas Hold ‘Em, which by the way is the most popular variant of poker.
